You have got to love it! I am not sure about you, but I can use a cup of all of the above to help improve my health and to relax for sure. As part of my goal this year, I not only wat to advocate for these factors and share with others, but to follow my own advice as well.
With my book in hand, here are some tips you and I can incorporate to enhance our experience:
Set a Comfortable Reading Spot: Create a cozy reading nook with good lighting, comfortable seating, and maybe even some soothing background music or a white noise machine.
Diversify Your Reading List: Mix it up! Include different genres, authors, and formats (physical books, e-books, audiobooks). That way, you'll always have something to match your mood.
Set Realistic Goals: Break your annual reading goal into smaller, more manageable chunks, like reading a certain number of pages per day or books per month. Of course, I'm speaking to myself here!
Make Reading a Habit: Incorporate reading into your daily routine. Even if it's just 15-20 minutes before bed or during your lunch break, consistency is key.
Keep a Reading Journal: Jot down your thoughts, favorite quotes, and any insights you gain from each book. It's a great way to reflect and remember what we read.
Combine Reading with Other Activities: Listen to audiobooks while commuting, exercising, or doing household chores. It's an excellent way to make the most of your time. A friend suggested this to me because I am typically listening to music at these times. Thanks!
Reward Yourself: Treat yourself when you reach a reading milestone. It could be a special treat, a new book, or even a relaxing day at your favorite café.
Explore Bookstores and Libraries: Spend some time browsing physical or virtual shelves. Discovering new books and authors can reignite a passion for reading.
Typing this blog has really inspired me to dive back into my passion for reading. And the benefits? Absolutely worth it! I’ll be heading to the bookstore—not to buy too many, but I’m definitely excited to rekindle my love for reading. See you there!
To Your Health and Joy, Cynthia
